Board of Directors

The 12-member Northern Colorado Water Conservancy Board is appointed by district court judges in the individual directors' home counties.

NCWCD was established under the Water Conservancy District Act of 1937 which requires appointment of board members to four-year terms.

The act's authors acknowledged water planning and management as long-term tasks accomplished best with continuity of vision.

Directors represent eight northeastern Colorado counties that comprise the District. Three directors each are from Weld, Larimer and Boulder, one each from Logan and Sedgwick, and Washington and Morgan share a representative to the Board.  Broomfield became Colorado's 64th county on Nov. 15, 2001.  Those portions of the county originally in Boulder and Weld counties are now included in the District.

As required by state statute, the Municipal Subdistrict elects its own slate of officers, but its board is the same as the District's. The Subdistrict is a separate and independent conservancy district formed in July 1970.
