Colorado River water arrives at the East Portal from the West Slope collection system. From there, water is routed to Mary's Lake.

Mary's Lake is a natural basin. It regulates the flow of water to the Estes Park Power Plant. The Prospect Mountain Conduit and Tunnel carry water from the lake through Prospect Mountain to the power plant penstock.

Lake Estes
Lake Estes, formed by Olympus Dam, re-regulates C-BT water to control outflow for diversion directly into the Big Thompson River or through the Estes Park-Foothills power system.

Pinewood Reservoir
Pinewood Reservoir is the afterbay to Pole Hill Power Plant and the forebay for Flatiron Power Plant.

Flatiron Reservoir
Flatiron Reservoir is a central distribution point for Colorado-Big Thompson Project water and serves as an afterbay for the Flatiron Power Plant.

Horsetooth Reservoir
Horsetooth Reservoir provides drinking water to the city of Fort Collins and numerous rural domestic suppliers, as well as water for regional industries, irrigation and recreation.

Carter Lake
Carter Lake is the principal storage site for C-BT Project deliveries to muncipal and agricultural water users to the south and east.

Boulder Reservoir
Boulder Reservoir provides water for agricultural and municipal use. It is also a popular recreation site. An estimated 175,000 people annually visit the reservoir.
